UFINET une esforços com o Governo Panamenho para apoiar tecnologicamente pessoas com deficiência
Em 10 de dezembro, a UFINET instalou com sucesso, juntamente com a SENADIS (Secretaria Nacional da Deficiência), a AIG (Autoridade Nacional de Inovação Governamental) e o Representante do Cacau, uma Internet Satélite no Setor Las Palmitas, em Capira, Província do Panamá Oeste. Essa conexão foi realizada em conjunto com o Governo do Panamá, em comemoração ao Dia Internacional da Pessoa com Deficiência 2020, para dar apoio e comunicar sites rurais à Internet.
O link foi instalado com sucesso, apesar das condições climáticas difíceis e terreno acidentado de difícil acesso. A instalação e os testes de funcionamento do serviço de Internet via satélite foram efetuados na casa do Sr. Diógenes Zamora, um jovem deficiente de cadeira de rodas, que vive numa zona rural remota, de difícil acesso e sem possibilidade de outras tecnologias de telecomunicações. Este link vai permitir um grande avanço para realizar o seu sonho: fazer seus estudos universitários a distância.
Esses tipos de conexões representam um grande marco para comunidades remotas e podem permitir que muitas novas pessoas ingressem no mundo da alfabetização digital.
