UFINET se une al esfuerzo del Gobierno de Panamá para apoyar tecnológicamente a personas con discapacidad
El pasado 10 de diciembre, UFINET instaló con éxito, junto a SENADIS (Secretaria Nacional de Discapacidad), la AIG (Autoridad Nacional para la Innovación Gubernamental) y el Representante del Cacao, un Internet Satelital en el Sector de Las Palmitas, Corregimiento de Cacao en Capira, Provincia de Panamá Oeste. Esta conexión se realizó junto con el Gobierno de Panamá, en conmemoración del Día Internacional de las Personas con Discapacidad 2020, para brindar apoyo y comunicar sitios rurales a internet.
El enlace fue instalado con éxito a pesar de dificultosas condiciones climáticas y un terreno escarpado y quebrado de difícil acceso. La instalación y las pruebas del buen funcionamiento del servicio de Internet satelital se realizaron en la vivienda del Sr. Diógenes Zamora, un joven discapacitado dependiente de una silla de ruedas, que vive en un lugar remoto rural de difícil acceso y sin posibilidad de tener otras tecnologías de telecomunicaciones. Este enlace le permitirá un gran avance para conseguir su sueño: realizar sus estudios universitarios a distancia.
Este tipo de conexiones representan un gran hito para las comunidades remotas y pueden permitir a muchas nuevas personas integrarse al mundo de la alfabetización digital.
